Seller lists a house. Buyer makes an offer. What follows from there is known as negotiations. An inexperienced negotiator will focus only on his or her client’s needs while demonstrating little to no empathy for the other side. Sure it might be easy to “split the difference” between an offer and a list price, but sometimes not and more often than not, someone leaves money on the table there. Sometimes the other side will use some very sharp tactics and the negotiations will take many twists and turns. Do negotiations go well when trust between the parties is low? The answer is no. An inexperienced negotiator can create a troubled deal and sometimes the end result is a party will walk away from a transaction not because it does not make good economic sense and not because they don’t desperately want to buy or sell the house, but because the process of negotiation and the other parties tactics violates them and offends a fundamental aspect of who they are and they won’t go there.
Knowledge of New Construction
Melinda Magee took her first new home construction class for Realtors in 2007 and in 2015, Melinda was appointed by the San Antonio Board of Realtors to serve on the 2015 REALTOR® Builder Committee. The REALTOR® Builder Committee strives to promote a closer cooperation and understanding between REALTORS®and Builders. The San Antonio Board of Realtors has approximately 9000 real estate agents and the committee assists in their knowledge of new home construction by hosting a construction class series and tours of new homes. In 2010, Melinda completed a program called “The Principles and Practice of New Urbanism” through the University of Miami School of Architecture which focuses on how new construction as well as existing homes fit within an existing community.

In 2014 Melinda Magee accepted the position of 1st VP of Membership for an organization that helps Newcomers to San Antonio make friends and find things to do. Newcomers of San Antonio was established over 30 years ago to welcome residents our city. San Antonio is about the 25th largest metro area in the United States and it takes time for those who are new to town to find doctors, places to eat, book club, gardening clubs, and more.
